Temporary email for verification codes
Most of the time, people open a temporary inbox for one reason: to receive a code or confirmation link. Here is how to make that go smoothly.
Step by step
- Open the inbox first and wait for the address to appear.
- Press the copy button and paste the address into the site’s form.
- Submit the form and come back to this tab. Keep it in the foreground so it keeps checking.
- When the email appears, open it. Codes are usually near the top. Links open in a new tab.
- Delete the inbox if you don’t expect any more mail.
Codes vs links
A code is usually short-lived, often 10 to 15 minutes, so enter it promptly. A link may only work in the same browser where you started the sign-up, so open it there.
Before you verify, ask one question
Will you ever need to verify this account again? Many services ask for a new code when you log in from a new device or reset your password. After 24 hours, our inbox can’t receive those. If the answer is “maybe”, use your real email or an alias.
If nothing arrives
Follow the checklist in temp mail not receiving emails. The usual cause is that the site blocks temporary email domains.
Codes we can’t help with
Codes sent by text message (SMS) need a phone number, not an email. TempMailyo only receives email.
