Temp mail for Discord

By Riley Marsh ·

A temporary address can get a Discord verification email, if Discord accepts the domain. But an account you care about needs an inbox that will still exist next month.

Will Discord accept a temporary email?

Sometimes. Discord sends a verification email when you sign up or change your address, and like many large platforms it may refuse addresses from known temporary email domains. If the sign-up form rejects the address, or the verification email never shows up after a few minutes, Discord is probably blocking that domain. There is no way around that from our side.

When a temp address is reasonable

Check Discord’s terms of service first. Using throwaway accounts to dodge a ban, evade a server’s rules, or run multiple accounts for spam is against Discord’s rules and against our acceptable use policy.

Why your main account needs a real address

Discord uses your email to confirm logins from new places, to send password resets, and to confirm changes to your account. Our inboxes end after 24 hours. After that, nothing sent to the address can be received, ever. If Discord asks you to confirm a new login next week, you will be locked out.

If you started with a temporary address and want to keep the account, change the email in your Discord account settings to a permanent address before the inbox expires. You’ll need the temporary inbox one more time to confirm the change.

If the code doesn’t arrive

  1. Check that you pasted the full address, including the part after the @.
  2. Wait two or three minutes. The inbox checks for mail every 12 seconds while the tab is open.
  3. Ask Discord to resend the email once.
  4. If nothing arrives, the domain is likely blocked. Use a permanent address.

Questions

Can I keep a Discord account made with temp mail?

Only if you switch it to a permanent email before the temporary inbox ends. Otherwise you can’t receive login confirmations or password resets for it.
