Temp mail for Instagram
You can try a temporary address for an Instagram sign-up code. Whether it works depends on Instagram, and keeping the account depends on having an inbox later.
How Instagram uses your email
Instagram can confirm a new account with a code sent by email or phone, and it uses the same contact to help you get back into the account if you forget your password or it asks you to confirm suspicious activity. That second use is the problem with a temporary inbox: it only exists for 24 hours.
Will the code arrive?
It may or may not. Large platforms often block known temporary email domains, and they can change that at any time. If no code arrives within a few minutes after you request a new one, assume the domain is blocked and use a permanent address.
Reasonable uses
- A short-lived test account while you build an app or website that links to Instagram.
- Seeing how sign-up works before giving Instagram your real email.
Creating fake or bulk accounts, or using new accounts to get around a block or ban, is against Instagram’s terms and against our acceptable use policy.
Keeping the account
If you decide to keep an account you created with a temporary address, add a permanent email in your account settings right away, while the temporary inbox can still receive the confirmation. Once the inbox ends, you can’t prove the account is yours by email again.
A better option for privacy
If what you want is fewer emails in your real inbox, an email alias does that without the lock-out risk. Aliases forward to your real inbox and can be switched off later. See disposable email vs email aliases.
